Bolivia is the poorest country in South America. It is a country of stunning physical beauty, from the high peaks of the Andes Mountains to the subtropical Amazon River basin.
The foundation began its work in Bolivia with a program of grants for college students through Compassion International's Leadership Development Program (LDP). We have had the joy of seeing our students--students who were born into extreme poverty--graduate from universities in Bolivia and move on to professional positions in their country. We continue to invest in these LDP grants through Compassion International.
The foundation's grants to local churches in Bolivia have funded a variety of projects. These projects have, for example, constructed new homes for Yuqui widows in the rainforest; paid for water or electrical hook-up for elderly couples; replaced roofs on single mothers' homes; purchased sewing machines, computers and bakery equipment.
We have worked with churches in many different parts of Bolivia: La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Tarija, Tembladuras, Pampa Grande, Chapare and others. We are eager to develop partnerships with churches other parts of Bolivia.
